The historic Casa Palacio Ico is a magnificent example of traditional Canarian architecture, constructed at the end of the 17th Century in the heart of the Villa de Teguise, Lanzarote's ancient capital.
In olden times it was popularly known as the "Barracks House" (Casa de los Cuarteles), but its actual name pays homage to the legendary Queen Ico and has reflected Lanzarote's traditions, both architecturally and socially.
In 1980 the Casa Palacio Ico became the property of the Bucher family, who with great enthusiasm, began its meticulous restoration in 2005. While staying true to the Canarian style and architecture of the original structure, as endorsed by Lanzarote's Heritage Department, its interior appointments are the most up to date.
Only materials of the finest quality, selected from around the world, have been used in this painstaking restoration. Marbles and jades from China, mulberry from Africa and teak from Myanmar; no cost was spared to breathe new life into this building, which is destined to once again become the cultural heart and soul of Villa de Teguise. And, after much hard work, the results are simply spectacular!
The interior space has been designed for use as a COMMERCIAL AND CULINARY CENTRE with top quality installations throughout, a spacious restaurant area and nine independent commercial locals within an idyllic ambience - pure Canaries, pure class!
This commercial environment is ideally suited to cater to the upscale visitor - for shopping or enjoying typical Canarian cuisine mixed with a touch of the modern or to take part in all kinds of social events and festivities.
This project was initially undertaken for use by the owners, who invested all the love and care one would for one's own. However, due to change in circumstances, this unique and magnificent building has been put on the market.
